Our story
Made because we needed it
It started as a tool for our own volunteers. Now other organizations use it too.

How it started
It started at a local organization in the Veenkoloniën, a rural region in the northeast of the Netherlands, where we could not find the right solution to easily create and manage volunteer shifts.
Looking for over 150 volunteers for yearly events, it simply was not manageable to rely on spreadsheets, emails, and forms. We needed something that actually worked for us.
So we created our own system, which we developed into an actual product. And yes, we still actively use it.
Rooted in the Dutch countryside
Serva is built in Drenthe, a quiet province in the north of the Netherlands with heathland, hunebedden and small villages. Neighbors still help each other out here, and a lot of village life depends on volunteers.
That “naoberschap” (helping your neighbors) is where Serva comes from. Software should make it easier, not get in the way. For every feature we add, we ask one question: does this make volunteering easier?

What we believe in
Simplicity first
Anyone should be able to use Serva without training or a manual.
Community focused
Good tools should not depend on a big budget. That is why small teams can use Serva for free.
Your data, your control
We handle your volunteers’ details with care. Your data belongs to you.
